What is Chiropractic?
Look well to the spine for the cause of disease.- Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine
Chiropractic is a healing science which emphasizes that health depends upon the nervous system consisting of the spine and the nerves that extend to all parts of the body functioning at 100 percent. Nerve interference can cause dysfunction or dis-ease (state of not being at ease) within the body. The science of chiropractic is locating and correcting the nerve interference or subluxations through chiropractic adjustments. Subluxations are misalignments in the spine resulting in pinched nerves.
The goal of chiropractic is to allow your body to heal itself and to function optimally. Chiropractic is a way of natural healing which focuses on the body’s innate ability to heal from within, without the use of drugs or surgery. Chiropractic is based upon the principle that true health is obtained by treating the cause of the problem and not merely the symptoms. Keep in mind that health includes all aspects of life: family, work, lifestyle, diet and nutrition, environment, and exercise programs
The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease. -Thomas Edison
